Nainital: The hill town of Nainital witnessed a lively weekend as more than 10,000 tourists arrived between Friday and Sunday. The pleasant mix of sunshine, rain, and even hailstorms added charm to the visit, making the city’s tourist spots vibrant and full of activity.
According to the Lake Bridge toll tax records, more than 2,500 tourist vehicles entered the city in three days. Day visitors were the highest on Sunday, adding to the festive atmosphere.
Tourist RushTourists began arriving on Friday and continued until Sunday afternoon. Popular destinations such as Pant Park, Snowview, Himalayan Darshan, the Waterfall, Zoo, and Cave Gardens saw heavy footfall. Mall Road was especially crowded in the evenings, with visitors enjoying boating and shopping.
Weather Adds to the ExperienceTourists enjoyed the changing weather — sometimes sunny, sometimes rainy, and occasionally hailstorms. After the skies cleared in the evenings, Mall Road became lively with crowds strolling and shopping. The mix of sunshine and rain made the weekend memorable for visitors.
Boost for Tourism BusinessesLocal businesses, hotels, and restaurants benefited from the tourist rush. According to Nainital Hotel and Restaurant Association President Digvijay Singh Bisht, rising heat in the plains is driving more tourists to the hills. He expressed hope that arrivals will increase further after Eid, giving another boost to the local economy.
Traffic Campaign and ChallansWhile tourism brought cheer, traffic violations also kept police busy. On Sunday, Tallital police station launched a campaign against vehicles parked in no-parking zones. During the drive, 25 vehicles were challaned.
Police officials said they had arguments with some drivers but did not relent. They warned that vehicles parked in no-parking zones or on roadsides could face seizure in the future.
More tourists expected after EidThe weekend proved profitable for tourism businesses and enjoyable for visitors, with Nainital offering a mix of sunshine, rain, and scenic beauty. At the same time, police ensured discipline on the roads, reminding drivers to follow rules. With more tourists expected after Eid, the city is preparing for another busy season.
