Chelsea get huge injury boost but four stars miss training ahead of PSG clash
Football | March 16, 2026 11:41 PM CST

Estevao Willian has returned to Chelsea training ahead of Tuesday's Champions League last-16 second leg against Paris Saint-Germain. Football.london were among those in attendance for open training on Monday morning with the Brazilian winger making an appearance having missed the last four weeks with a hamstring injury.

Club captain Reece James was not spotted out on the grass however, with the versatile England international often following his own specific training routine which sometimes leads to him missing the odd session and thus it is unlikely to be a major concern.

Rosenior will likely still be asked about the 26-year-old in his pre-match press conference and also how much Estevao can be involved on Tuesday.

He had already hinted at a return for the teenager for the first leg but Estevao missed that European clash and the defeat to Newcastle United this past weekend.

Last week, the Chelsea boss said: "Estevao is still a little bit further away. We want to be careful because of the nature of his hamstring injury. The last thing we want to do is rush him back... So, we will see what he's like for Tuesday's game against PSG."

Having not played since mid-February, it is unlikely Estevao plays a prominent role against the Champions League holders but it is certainly a boost to have him back.

Despite that, there was some injury concerns for Chelsea with Malo Gusto, Jamie Gittens and Filip Jorgensen absent from Monday's session. The latter missed Saturday's loss with a groin issue which saw Robert Sanchez back in goal with that likely to remain the case for the visit of PSG.

Rosenior has been rotating between his two goalkeepers in recent weeks following Sanchez's error against Arsenal. Jorgensen was in between the sticks against Aston Villa and PSG but he made a catalogue of mistakes in the latter.

Sanchez was subsequently back in goal against Newcastle with it revealed a minor issue had kept Jorgensen out. That looks to still be bothering him, as he did not join the goalkeepers out at Cobham on Monday morning.

Levi Colwill has recently returned to team training but is almost certainly some way off playing again, having suffered an ACL injury in pre-season.

However, potentially, two returns could take place for Chelsea at Stamford Bridge on Tuesday evening, in addition to Estevao, with Pedro Neto available after serving a retrospective ban.

The Portugal international was involved in a controversial incident during the first leg after he pushed over a ball boy when trying to restart the game quickly.

He was booked for his actions at the Parc des Princes but was perhaps fortunate to not be given another red card having been sent off against Arsenal earlier this month.
