Kavya Maran- Sunil Gavaskar: Helping in killing Indians… Sunil Gavaskar attacked Kavya Maran

Sunil Gavaskar react on Kavya Maran: Kavya Maran has been in the news ever since she bought Pakistani cricketer Abrar Ahmed in The Hundred auction. She has been embroiled in controversies by associating the Pakistani spinner with her The Hundred franchise Sunrisers Leeds. Kavya Maran's decision to buy a Pakistani cricketer is being heavily criticized in India. Former Indian cricketer Sunil Gavaskar has also given his reaction on that issue. He said that Indian owned franchises should avoid buying Pakistani cricketers. This is because the money spent on them can indirectly be used to harm India.

There was an uproar over Kavya buying a Pakistani cricketer.

Kavya Maran bought Abrar Ahmed for Rs 2.32 crore, after which he became the first Pakistani cricketer to join the franchise of an Indian team owner. This move of Kavya Maran backfired, the first effect of which was seen on social media, where she was heavily criticized. The ex-handle of Kavya Maran's The Hundred franchise Sunrisers Leads was also suspended.

Gavaskar reacted regarding Kavya Maran

In his column for Mid-Day, Gavaskar said that people's anger is justified. Especially when India has been adamant on its stand of not playing cricket with Pakistan since the 2008 Mumbai attacks. Pakistani cricketers have also been banned in IPL. In such a situation, there is no surprise that there is an uproar over an Indian owned franchise buying a Pakistani cricketer in The Hundred.

'Helping in killing Indians'

Gavaskar argued that the money given to Pakistani players ultimately goes to their government through taxes, which is used to buy weapons which they use to kill Indian soldiers and civilians. That means, by spending money on Pakistani cricketers, they are helping in killing Indians.
