11 Arsenal stars who could be sold as Andrea Berta makes transfer priority clear

Arsenal have drawn up a list of 11 players who could be sold this summer, as sporting director Andrea Berta focusses on departures. In his first summer transfer window at the Emirates, Berta shelled out £250million on seven permanent signings.

Arsenal also brought in an eighth, Piero Hincapie, who they're set to pay £45million for in order to make his loan from Bayer Leverkusen permanent. That's put the focus on balancing the books, with Berta hoping to have a better summer when it comes to departures than in 2025.

The Times report that Arsenal are planning another refresh after what they hope will be their first Premier League title win in more than two decades. Of the first-team players out on loan, only Jakub Kiwior is guaranteed to leave permanently and earn the Gunners a fee (£17m from Porto).

Berta is hoping to find buyers for Reiss Nelson, Fabio Vieira and Karl Hein, who all set to return to the Emirates this summer with a year left on their respective contracts. But there are also several players who've been part of Arteta's squad this season whose futures are uncertain.

Ben White and Christian Norgaard could be upgraded, having been given limited minutes this term. Meanwhile, Leandro Trossard and Gabriel Jesus are also out of contract in 2027.

Gabriel Martinelli is perhaps the most high-profile star facing uncertainty. The Brazilian has two years left on his deal, but after Arsenal invested heavily in their forward line - coupled with the emergence of Max Dowman - Martinelli could be deemed surplus to requirements.

Academy products Myles Lewis-Skelly and Ethan Nwaneri could also look to leave in search of regular game time. Lewis-Skelly has seen his role reduced following Hincapie's arrival while Nwaneri was loaned to Marseille in January.

Both Chelsea and Borussia Dortmund enquired about Nwaneri last summer before he signed a long-term contract. The midfielder has scored one goal and provided one assist in eight games for Marseille.

Such a clear-out would, of course, mean Berta getting the chequebook out and replacing some of them. It's unlikely that Arterta would sanction all 11 departures for the sake of continuity in the dressing room after what's set be the most successful campaign of his tenure.

In terms of arrivals, Arsenal are monitoring RB Lezipig centre-half Castello Lukeba and Newcastle right-back Tino Livramento. The Gunners also plan to hold contract talks with Kai Havertz and Martin Odegaard, who have two years left on their respective deals in North London.

Pocketing around £275,000, Havertz was recently usurped as Arsenal's top earner by Bukayo Saka, who signed a new £300,000-a-week contract last month. Odegaard, it's claimed, earns roughly £240,000.
