Udupi: Employment assured through apprenticeship fair, says Raghupati Bhat

Udupi: More than 100 reputed companies are set to participate in the upcoming apprenticeship and job fair, and students have been urged to attend in large numbers.

Former MLA and honorary president K Raghupati Bhat said that participants are likely to secure employment in one of the companies attending the fair. He called on candidates to make use of the opportunity and contribute to the country’s progress by gaining employment.

He was speaking at an awareness programme for industrialists held on Monday ahead of the Prime Minister National Apprenticeship and Job Fair scheduled on March 17 at Amruth Garden. The event is being organised by Billadi Atmananda Saraswati Industrial Training Centre under Dharmasthala Sri Ramakshetra Udupi Samiti Educational Trust, in association with the Department of Skill Development, Entrepreneurship and Livelihood, and the Department of Industrial Training and Employment.

State apprenticeship advisor B L Chandrashekhar inaugurated the programme and spoke about job opportunities and the responsibilities of companies and the government.

Representatives from industry bodies and training institutes also attended the programme.

Job fair schedule and arrangements

The job fair will be inaugurated at 9.30 am on March 17, followed by on-site registration. The fair will begin at 10.30 am.

More than 1,000 candidates have already registered online. On-the-spot registration will also be available, and around 4,000 to 5,000 job seekers are expected to participate.

Food arrangements, including breakfast, lunch and evening snacks, have been made for participants.

Several companies from across the state are taking part, and discussions have been held regarding issuing appointment letters on the spot. Follow-up processes will also be carried out.

Candidates selected for apprenticeship will receive a stipend.
