Nationwide customers hoping to receive a free £100 payment later this year are being urged to note an approaching deadline.
Nationwide is anticipated to distribute its latest 'fairer share' bonuses to millions of customers later in 2026.
The world's largest building society has issued these £100 lump sum payments for each of the past three years and has suggested it intends to maintain the scheme - and those wishing to receive the funds in 2026 may want to act quickly.
In 2023, 2024 and 2025, the scheme was revealed in May and the money paid out in June. Members were required to have satisfied the qualifying conditions during the first quarter of each year - or by March 31, which is in merely two weeks' time.
In 2025, roughly £400 million was allocated to four million Nationwide members. The preceding year witnessed £385 million distributed to 3.85 million people.
According to Nationwide's website: "We share our profits with our members' refers to our Fairer Share Payment. If you bank as well as save or have a mortgage with us, you could benefit from our Fairer Share Payments.
"Some members have received £300 in Fairer Share Payments since 2023.
"It's our intention to make a payment every year, but this will depend on how we perform financially. We may change the amount and the eligibility criteria based on that performance."
Provided the eligibility requirements stay the same, those looking to boost their chances of receiving the payment should ensure they use their current account before March 31, keep it active until this date or beyond, and maintain a minimum of £100 in a Nationwide savings account - or have at least £100 outstanding on a Nationwide mortgage.
