Couple Partnership Patterns: When we say that love comes from the heart, the brain also plays a big role in it. A research has proved that people choose their partners not only on the basis of looks or habits, but also on the basis of mental state. Let us understand what is this connection from heart to brain.
Research done on 1.5 crore people
A research conducted by America’s Laureate Institute for Brain Research has revealed surprising things. Data of more than 1.5 crore people were included in the research. Research has found that people who have some kind of mental health disorder are often attracted to partners with similar mental conditions.
Involves 9 mental conditions
In this research, 9 mental conditions like depression, anxiety, autism, ADHD, bipolar disorder, OCD, schizophrenia and substance abuse were included. Data from 14.8 million married couples from countries such as Taiwan, Denmark and Sweden were analyzed. According to research, these similar mental health conditions between people are not just a coincidence. Rather there is a tendency of attraction. That is, if a person has depression, then he unconsciously feels more pulled towards a partner with similar mental condition.
Genetic effect was also seen
Research has revealed that when both parents suffer from the same mental problem, their children are more than twice as likely to suffer from the same problem. Especially this pattern was seen more in couples suffering from schizophrenia, depression, bipolar disorder and drug addiction. Genetic factors play an important role in these diseases. Research author Professor Chun Chih Fan says that this pattern is almost the same in every country, culture and generations.
These are the three main reasons
Researchers have given three possible reasons for such a situation.
1. Sharing similar experiences – When two people have similar mindset then they are able to connect with each other easily. They also feel connected to their experiences.
2. Side effect – Researchers believe that with time, people who live together, their thinking and habits also start matching. In such a situation this pattern follows automatically.
3.Social Stigma – Due to social discrimination to mental health, the dating pool of such people becomes limited. This is the reason why similar people meet each other more.
Mental health is a big challenge
In the last few years, cases to mental health have increased rapidly. The social and emotional development of children of every economic level has been affected since the Corona lockdown. Every fourth child in England is vulnerable to mental disorder. According to the NHS, treatment for children under 18 has increased by 55%.
