IPL Hat-Trick On 2 Legal Deliveries: There are very few bowlers in the history of the Indian Premier League (IPL) who have achieved the feat of taking a hat-trick. Taking 3 consecutive wickets in three balls is a very difficult task. So far only 23 hat-tricks have been seen in the 18 seasons of IPL. One of these hat-tricks is quite special. Actually, a bowler had completed a hat-trick by taking 3 wickets in just 2 balls. This shocking incident was seen in the year 2014.
The most unique hat-trick of IPL
Many memorable moments have been seen in IPL, but former Rajasthan Royals leg spinner Praveen Tambe taking a hat-trick in two legal balls against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2014 is still one of the most unique records. This incident happened for the first time in the history of IPL, when a bowler completed a hat-trick on just two legal deliveries. This match was played on 5 May 2014 at Sardar Patel Stadium in Ahmedabad. But the biggest question is how did Praveen Tambe take 3 wickets in the last 2 balls?
Praveen Tambe did this feat in the 16th over of Kolkata Knight Riders' innings. He bowled the very first ball wide, on which Manish Pandey came out of the crease. But he missed the ball and was stumped by Sanju Samson. Although this delivery was not counted as legal because it was wide, but the wicket was taken. After this, Yusuf Pathan was caught and bowled by Tambe on the first legal ball. Yusuf played a drive, but the ball went straight into the bowler's hands. Then Ryan ten Deschate was made LBW on the second legal ball. In this way, three wickets fell in just two legal balls and Tambe completed the hat-trick.
Why was Praveen Tambe banned?
Praveen Tambe's IPL career started at the age of 41. He was a part of IPL from 2013 to 2016. During this period he played 33 matches and took 28 wickets in his name. During this period his economy was 7.75. But BCCI had banned him from playing in IPL. The reason for which was participation in franchise cricket of other countries without asking permission.
