Vietnam Airlines announced on March 17 that it will change its operating terminals at several international airports starting from late March in a move to improve service quality, enhance passenger experience and support its goal of becoming a five-star international airline by 2030.
In Southeast Asia, beginning March 29, the national flag carrier will shift operations from Terminal 1 to Terminal 3 at Ninoy Aquino International Airport in Manila, the Philippines.
The adjustment is intended to improve service quality as Terminal 1 is currently operating beyond its designed capacity, while also enhancing connectivity and overall passenger experience for international travelers.
The change will also allow SkyTeam alliance airlines to operate from the same terminal, making transfers and check-in procedures more convenient.
In Europe, from March 31, Vietnam Airlines will move its passenger check-in area at Charles de Gaulle Airport in Paris, France, from Terminal 2E to Terminal 2C, about 200 meters away. Terminal 2C has recently undergone renovation and upgrading, offering modern infrastructure and more optimized operational space for international carriers.
The terminal also serves several major airlines, including Emirates, Air Canada and Xiamen Airlines. The airline will also shift its operations at Frankfurt Airport in Germany from Terminal 2 to Terminal 3 starting May 19. Terminal 3, expected to open in April as Terminal 2 undergoes renovation, is about five minutes from the current Terminal 2 via the airport’s Skyline train and shuttle buses.
The airline advises passengers to check in online through its website, mobile application or airport self-service kiosks, and to arrive at the airport at least three hours before departure to ensure sufficient time for procedures. Clear signage and support staff will also be available at the new terminals to help passengers locate Vietnam Airlines check-in counters easily.
The airline has recently continued expanding its international flight network to meet rising travel demand. In 2025 alone, Vietnam Airlines launched 14 new international routes and expanded its European network with new destinations including Copenhagen in Denmark and Milan in Italy.
The terminal changes at major international airports are expected to help optimize the airline’s operations while providing smoother and more convenient connections for passengers traveling within the Vietnam Airlines network and its partner airlines.
