Short Story in Hindi: When I was young, all the people living near my house used to call for Kanya Puja and all of us children used to be very excited that when the morning would come and I would get ready and go.

Once when I went to an aunty’s house for Kanya Puja, she washed our feet, applied tilak and fed us with great love. Then came the turn of what we children were eagerly waiting for, money i.e. Dakshina.
1 plate which had halwa, chana and money, aunty gave 11 rupees to everyone and after giving me only 1 rupee, she said that you are the youngest, what will you do with so many rupees? I became very sad in my mind and thought that I will never come to this aunty’s house from next time.
Then aunty told her daughter to take his plate and leave it at home.
Sister came to drop me home and gave the plate to my mother and after saying something she went away.
As soon as that sister went out of the house, I started crying and said that aunty gave more money to everyone but not to me.
Then Mama said look at this and took out 10 coins from inside the halwa and started laughing.
That aunty often teased me that she had brought you from near the drain and even today she never missed the opportunity to tease me. Today that aunty is no more in this world but her cute teasing is still present in my memories.
