The ranking released on March 18 is part of the annual World Airport Awards 2026, based on passenger satisfaction surveys assessing experiences across a range of airport service and product performance indicators, from check-in, arrivals and transfers to shopping, security, immigration and departure procedures at the gate.
The rest of top 10 are France’s Paris Charles de Gaulle Airport, Italy’s Rome Fiumicino Airport, Istanbul Airport in Turkey, Munich Airport in Germany and Vancouver Airport in Canada.
Changi, home to the world’s largest indoor waterfall, features automated check-in counters and biometric authentication to speed up immigration procedures.
It handled a record 69.98 million passengers last year, surpassing the previous high of 68.3 million passengers recorded in 2019, before the Covid pandemic severely disrupted global air travel, The Straits Times reported.
The airport had to deal with some negative publicity last year, including tourist complaints about slow baggage handling upon entering the airport.
Then, the airport operator issued an apology and pledged to ensure a smooth experience for all travelers.
