New Delhi: In the background of the confusion and scarcity of LPG gas in the country for the past few days, the central government has given an important clarification. Sujata Sharma, Joint Secretary, Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, has said that the fuel situation in the country is normal and the crude oil supply and refinery work are going on regularly. There is no official record of running out of fuel at any petrol pump and all outlets are functioning at full capacity.

Appeal to commercial customers to switch to ‘CNG’

According to the ministry, the supply of domestic PNG (PNG) and CNG for transportation is 100% assured and there is no curtailment. The government has urged commercial LPG consumers to use CNG wherever possible. Many companies have announced special incentives for this. The central government has promised to provide 10% additional commercial LPG to the states that help in the expansion of the PNG network. A quarter of a lakh new gas connections have been provided in the last two weeks.

Increase in online bookings even under the threat of war

Although the world war situation has affected the global LPG market, there is no shortage of supply in India. Currently online booking of LPG has reached 94% and more than 83% deliveries are done through ‘Delivery Authentication Code’ (DAC). Sujata Sharma explained, “The number of bookings of excess cylinders due to panic (Panic Booking) has reduced and yesterday there were 57,000 refill bookings in one day.” Also 17 states have issued allocation orders for commercial LPG.

Safe return of Indians from Gulf countries

On the other hand, Asim Mahajan, Joint Secretary, Ministry of External Affairs, gave important information about the travel of Indians in the Gulf countries. Although there are technical restrictions in some countries, aviation is improving rapidly. Around 280,000 Indians have returned home since February 28.

  • UAE: Limited flights are operating between India and UAE and 90 flights are expected today.
  • Qatar and Oman: There are regular flights from Oman and Saudi Arabia. Qatar Airways today operates 9 special flights to India.
  • Kuwait and Bahrain: The airspace of Kuwait and Bahrain remains closed. However, Jazeera Airways and Gulf Air are organizing special flights for Indians from Saudi Arabian airports.

Sailors of ‘Safety Vishnu’ will return

15 Indian crew members have been rescued from the ship ‘MT SAFESEA VISHNU’ which suffered an accident off the coast of Iraq. All these sailors have left Iraq to come to India. The Ministry of External Affairs said that it is in continuous contact with the Iraqi administration to bring back the body of an Indian citizen who unfortunately lost his life in this accident.
