Liam Rosenior has delivered an injury update ahead of Chelsea's encounter against Everton. The Blues will be missing some key figures when they face David Moyes' outfit at the Hill Dickinson Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
Addressing journalists at Cobham training ground on Thursday afternoon, Rosenior started by outlining the recovery timeframe for Trevoh Chalobah, who sustained an ankle injury during Chelsea's loss to Paris Saint-Germain on Tuesday night. The Blues defender was carried off the pitch on a stretcher near the conclusion of the second half after picking up an ankle injury.
Rosenior said: "It wasn't until later after the game that I saw the image, and then you're really worried.
"Fortunately it's nowhere near as serious as we first feared. We're looking at maybe six weeks."
Rosenior also delivered an update on Levi Colwill, who suffered an anterior cruciate ligament injury in the summer and has lately returned to first-team training.
The Chelsea boss confirmed that Colwill still faces a 'good while' on the sidelines despite making positive strides with his rehabilitation.
"With an ACL, he's hitting all of the benchmarks he needs to but we need to make sure he keeps getting past certain levels," said Rosenior. "He's still looking at a good while yet."
The Chelsea manager later revealed that Filip Jorgensen, who sustained a groin problem following the first leg of the UEFA Champions League last-16, needed surgery.
Rosenior said: "Filip had his scan and needed a minor operation. It's a matter of weeks."
Regarding Reece James, who picked up a hamstring injury earlier this week, Rosenior added: "We're going to look more at Reece more after the international break.
"It's not serious but there's something in his hamstring we're going to look at it after the break."
Chelsea have been defeated in each of their previous three matches, and Rosenior is resolute in reversing fortunes before the forthcoming international break.
"When you lose games, there's always damage attached to it," he said.
"I'm learning about the team, the players and the staff. I've learned a lot this week. Every manager goes through difficult weeks.
"I've had challenging periods before. I've lost games in many jobs, like all managers have done. We need to find a way to fight at Everton and come through a difficult period."
