Arsenal defender Jurrien Timber has been included in the Holland national team squad for upcoming friendlies against Norway and Ecuador, sparking fresh hope he will be fit for Sunday's Carabao Cup final versus Manchester City.
The right-back missed Tuesday's Champions League last 16 second-leg victory over Bayer Leverkusen at the Emirates Stadium after hobbling off in the 2-0 Premier League win over Everton last weekend.
Timber appeared to pick up an ankle issue during the first half against the Toffees and while he was initially able to battle on, he was eventually forced off before the interval.

Speaking ahead of Leverkusen, Mikel Arteta was asked whether Timber could be back in time to face City at Wembley, to which he replied: "We don't know, I think with him it will be a matter of days, but not sure."
While Arteta is set to issue a fresh update this afternoon at London Colney at 1:30pm when he will hold his press conference, Holland have confirmed Timber is part of their squad for the upcoming international break.
He was joined by his brother Quinten as Oranje ramp up preparations for this summer's World Cup in North America when they will square off against Japan, Tunisia and a play-off winner in Group F.
Arsenal have also been handed a separate injury boost this week as fellow full-back Ben White returned to the starting XI against Leverkusen.
The 28-year-old has endured a stop-start season due to various fitness problems but is now eyeing a strong finish to the campaign as he bids to stay fit.
White told Arsenal's official podcast 'The Dispatch' ahead of the Carabao Cup final: "Obviously I played 60-70 last night and it felt good. It's been a frustrating one really, a few hamstring injuries, different, not the same thing.
"Really frustrating, not really much I can do about them so it's been annoying but I feel much better now. Hopefully I'll stay fit until the end of the season."
Arsenal captain Martin Odegaard is also facing a race against the clock to prove his fitness in time for Sunday and he was excluded from Norway's squad for upcoming international friendlies against Holland and Switzerland, suggesting he is unlikely to feature against City due to his ongoing knee problem.
