New Delhi, March 20, 2026 (Read): JM Financial has stated that Reliance Jio has further strengthened its lead in India’s telecom market, remaining the top player in both mobile services and home broadband, including 5G fixed wireless internet.
According to the firm’s latest report, trends from the January 2026 subscriber data indicate that Jio added the highest number of new mobile users during the month. The company gained around 1.6 million net wireless subscribers. In comparison, Bharti Airtel added nearly 1.2 million users, while Vodafone Idea lost about 0.7 million subscribers. These figures are based on data from the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India.
JM Financial noted that Jio continues to hold over 41 percent market share, making it the largest wireless telecom operator in the country. Airtel remains in the second position, while Vodafone Idea continues to lag behind.
The report also highlighted Jio’s strong performance in the home broadband segment. The company added around 780,000 new home broadband subscribers in January and retained the top position with nearly 42 percent market share. Analysts attributed this growth to the increasing demand for JioAirFiber.
In the 5G fixed wireless internet segment, also known as the AirFiber market, Jio holds more than 70 percent market share, giving it a significant early advantage. Analysts believe this segment could play a key role in driving future growth in the telecom sector.
