Tragic Loss: Indian National Dies Amid West Asia Conflict in Riyadh

Riyadh: On March 18, the Indian government confirmed the death of an Indian citizen in Riyadh, linked to the ongoing conflict in West Asia.

The Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia has been in contact with the deceased's family and local authorities, offering all necessary support.

In a statement shared on X, the Embassy expressed its heartfelt condolences regarding the unfortunate passing of the Indian national, emphasizing their commitment to assist the family during this difficult time.

This tragic event comes amid escalating tensions in West Asia, which intensified following US-Israeli airstrikes on Iran on February 28, resulting in the deaths of key Iranian leaders.

On March 15, the Indian Embassy had advised its citizens in Saudi Arabia to stay alert and adhere to safety protocols issued by local authorities and the embassy. They confirmed that operations at the Indian Embassy in Riyadh and the Consulate in Jeddah, along with Visa Facilitation Services (VFS), are functioning as usual.

The Embassy's statement urged all Indian nationals in Saudi Arabia to remain cautious, follow local safety guidelines, and avoid sharing any videos or news related to the ongoing conflict.

Furthermore, the Embassy reassured that regular consular services and camps are being conducted, and updates will be provided as necessary.

Indian and Saudi airlines continue to operate flights to various destinations in India from Jeddah and Madinah, with Indian carriers resuming services from Riyadh. The embassy encouraged those wishing to travel to India to check flight availability.

A 24/7 helpline has also been established for Indian nationals needing assistance during emergencies.
