MRP Complaint Online: Numerous retailers engage in the illegal practice of charging customers more than the Maximum Retail Price (MRP), which violates consumer rights. You no longer need to remain silent! If you encounter such a situation, strict action can be taken against the retailer, as selling above MRP is completely prohibited. Fortunately, the government has simplified the complaint process to protect consumer rights.

If a shop, mall, or restaurant demands more than the MRP for any item, you can file a complaint right away. The Indian government has established a national consumer helpline number, 1800-11-4000, where you can call directly to register your complaint. Additionally, there is a dedicated website for lodging complaints. Remember, you are not obligated to pay more than the MRP.

If you have an issue with a product or retailer, you can submit your complaint online at consumerhelpline.gov.in. When filing a complaint, ensure you include the product name, retailer's name, and a copy of the bill or a photo. Once your complaint is registered, the relevant department will initiate an investigation and take action against the offender. In valid cases, customers may even receive a refund.

If a shop, mall, or hotel requests more than the MRP, remain calm instead of arguing. Immediately take a photo of the bill and product packaging, and if possible, record a short video clip. These will serve as evidence when you file your complaint. Most complaints originate from Maharashtra and Uttar Pradesh, although cases are also reported from states like Delhi, Punjab, and Bihar. The government is actively monitoring this issue to prevent consumer exploitation.
