Bengaluru: The Karnataka government has directed that the case involving allegations of sexual harassment by a police inspector at Moodbidri police station be handed over to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for further investigation.

Home Minister G Parameshwara said on Monday that he has instructed the Director General of Police to transfer the case to the CID for a detailed probe.

Speaking to reporters, he said the chairperson of the Karnataka State Commission for Women, Nagalakshmi Choudhary, along with the victims, met him and discussed the matter. Following this, the decision was taken to hand over the case for further investigation.

He said that immediate action had already been taken by suspending the police inspector Sandesh after the allegations surfaced.

The minister added that officials have been directed to submit a report, and further action will be taken after senior officers present their findings. He said that more aspects of the case need to be examined, and therefore it has been referred to the CID for a detailed investigation.

He stated that the truth will emerge after the probe and that the investigation will also reveal if there are more victims in the case.
