**Bengaluru**: A senior police inspector of Bengaluru’s Konankunte police station has been accused of sexually harassing a woman ‘roddy-sheeter’ (criminal). Purported **WhatsApp messages** and **audio clip** to this case went viral on social media on Wednesday, March 25, 2026.

Inspector **Pappanna** is accused of sending obscene and lewd messages to the woman, repeatedly calling her “very sexy”, professing love for her, and pressurizing her to “entertain” him. The victim woman, identified in reports as **Yashaswini alias Yashaswini Gowda** (aged around 47–50 years), has lodged a formal complaint with the Bengaluru Police Commissioner, demanding strict action.

In her complaint, Yashaswini alleged that the harassment began in 2016, when Papanna called her for questioning and took her phone number. He reportedly started sending “good morning” and “good night” messages, which then escalated into obscene messages from February 2017. She claimed that when she tried to complain to the DCP, she received threats. For the past three months, the inspector has been calling her repeatedly, threatening to come to her house, and making inappropriate comments about her. She also alleged that Papanna claims that his wife is a close relative of Chief Minister **Siddaramaiah**, making him “untouchable” (untouchable), and that he has been suspended twice in the past, but was soon reinstated each time.

Yashaswini, described as Bengaluru’s first female ‘roddy-sheeter’ (originally from Basavanagudi/Subramaniapura area), was arrested by the Central Crime Branch (CCB) in February 2026 under the stringent **Karnataka Control of Organized Crime Act (KCOCA)** in connection with the kidnapping and ransom demand of a real estate businessman. According to reports, there are around 10 cases registered against him in various police stations.

The victim, who claims to have MBA and PhD degrees from an American university, said she feels “disgusted” by the messages and fears for her family’s safety, including threats to her children. She alleged that no action was taken on earlier complaints against Papanna.

Senior police officials have confirmed that the complaint has been received and investigation into the matter has been initiated. Bengaluru Police Department has faced embarrassment due to viral audio clips and screenshots. Further action, which could include possible suspension or departmental inquiry, is awaited.
