Netflix Subscription Increase: once again OTT platform Netflix Has given a big shock to its users. The company has increased the prices of its subscription plans. The special thing is that this is the second time this year that Netflix has increased the price. Earlier in January also, the company had increased the prices by about $2.50 per month. However, it is a matter of relief that this increase has currently been implemented in America and the prices in India are still stable. But due to frequent changes, concern among users has definitely increased.
What are the new plans and prices?
Under the new price structure of Netflix, now all the plans have become more expensive than before.
- Ad-supported plan: increased from $7.99 to $8.99 per month
- Standard plan: increased from $17.99 to $19.99 per month
- Premium plan: increased from $24.99 to $26.99 per month
Apart from this, if you add an extra member to your account, you will have to pay more for that also.
- Ad-supported add-ons: $6.99 per user
- Ad-Free Add-ons: $9.99 per user
Why are prices increasing?
Netflix says that this increase is being done due to its increasing content investment. The company plans to spend nearly $20 billion on content in 2026, up from $18 billion in 2025. Now Netflix does not want to be limited to just films and web series, but is also rapidly investing in new formats like live events and video podcasts. The company believes that it is necessary to increase prices to provide better and more content.
Why are prices increasing again and again?
This is the second time this year that Netflix has increased prices. The company has clearly told its investors that it will keep changing the prices from time to time, so that the content quality and investment can be maintained. This clearly means that users may see such changes in the coming times also.
Big jump in the number of users also
Interestingly, despite increasing the prices, there has been no impact on the growth of Netflix.
- The company added 18.9 million new users in the fourth quarter of 2024, which is the biggest increase ever. With this the total number of subscribers has reached 300 million.
- Netflix co-CEO Greg Peters says that despite the price increase, Netflix remains a “value for money” entertainment platform.
What does it mean for users?
The rising prices of Netflix will have a direct impact on the pockets of the users. Those who have already taken subscription will now have to pay more or may have to choose a cheaper plan. However, for users who prefer new and exclusive content, Netflix still remains a strong option.
