Lecturer detained after proposing to student, assaulted on campus near Nelamangala

Nelamangala: A 40-year-old lecturer was detained by police following an incident at Siddhartha Medical College near T. Begur–Thippagondanahalli, where he allegedly proposed to a student inside a classroom, leading to a confrontation and assault.

The lecturer, identified as Abdul, a native of Nelamangala, was teaching microbiology at the college.

According to available information, the lecturer expressed his feelings to a female student during class. Following this, an altercation broke out, and he was allegedly assaulted by students and the student involved. Visuals of the incident, showing the lecturer being beaten on the campus, have circulated widely on social media.

It is also alleged that the lecturer offered chocolates while making the proposal. Allegations of misconduct towards the student have also been reported.

After the incident, the lecturer was chased and assaulted within the campus. He later fled from the spot but was taken into custody by Nelamangala Rural Police Station for further investigation.
