Indian men’s hockey team captain Harmanpreet Singh has shared his experience of meeting cricket star Virat Kohli. Harmanpreet, who was honored for completing 250 international matches during the 8th annual inaugural ceremony of Hockey India 2025, described this special meeting as very memorable.
Harmanpreet Singh said that Virat Kohli is a person of very humble nature and he was very happy to meet him. He told that there was a conversation between the two in Punjabi, which made this meeting even more special. He said that despite being players of different sports, the approach to reach the top level is almost the same.
He also expressed happiness on completing his 250 international matches and called it a big achievement of his career. Harmanpreet said that it is a matter of pride for her to reach this milestone and this honor has inspired her to perform better in future.
He also gave positive indications regarding the team’s confidence regarding the upcoming tournament. India have been placed in Pool D at the FIH Hockey World Cup 2026 along with England, Pakistan and Wales. The team will start its campaign from August 15.
Before this, a match between India and Pakistan will also be played in England under the FIH Pro League in June 2026. Regarding this match, Harmanpreet said that this is a good opportunity for the team and the team will try to perform better by learning from the previous matches.
He said that the team is working on correcting its mistakes and is preparing to enter the upcoming matches with full confidence.
