Kolkata: In a tragic incident, popular Bengali actor Rahul Banerjee passed away on Sunday after falling into the sea while shooting at Talsari beach, in Odisha’s Balasore district.
The 42-year-old Rahul was shooting a scene for Bengali television serial ’Bhole Baba Par Karega’ when the tragedy took place, Anandabazar.com reported.
Rahul was rescued after he fell into the water, as local fishermen and his colleagues pulled him out.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital in Digha, in neighbouring West Bengal, where the team had camped, but doctors declared him dead upon arrival.
The crew members and actors went to Talsari on Sunday morning to shoot a sequence on a small island, but tragedy struck when the actor and others were returning tom Talsari.
Rahul is survived by wife Priyanka Sarkar, who is also an actress, and their 10-year-old son.
He acted in several films, TV shows and web series.
