Phulbani: Body of a youth, who went missing in Putudi waterfall in Odisha’s Kandhamal district the previous day, was recovered on Monday morning.
The deceased has been identified as Swadhin Biswal, who hails from Sambalpur. He was working as an Assistant Section Officer (ASO) in Bhubaneswar.
According to sources, Biswal was on a holiday in Phulbani with three friends. The group visited the popular Putudi waterfall around 11 am. While bathing, Biswal lost his footing and fell into the waterfall. His friends immediately raised the alarm and sought help.
Phulbani Sadar police, along with personnel from the Fire Services and the Odisha Disaster Rapid Action Force (ODRAF), promptly launched a search and rescue operation but could not trace him. The operation resumed this morning and his body was recovered from the Salunki River. Following which, it was sent to district headquarters hospital here for postmortem.
