Raghav Chadha Demands Paternity Leave : New Delhi : AAP’s Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has raised a very important issue in Parliament. There is a demand to make paternity leave a legal right in the country. This is the issue MP Raghav Chadha (Raghav Chadha) has presented in the Rajya Sabha. Just as mothers are given maternity leave while giving birth to children, at the same time fathers are also requested to be given paternity leave in Parliament (Rajya Sabha) has done

MP Raghav Chadha said that when a baby is born, both the parents are congratulated, but the responsibility of raising the baby is entirely on the mother. He called it a failure of society. While our system recognizes only maternity leave, the role of fathers is ignored.

He demanded in Parliament that paternity leave be made a legal right, so that fathers do not have to choose between work and family to care for their newborn baby and wife. “After nine months of pregnancy, the mother has to go through the difficult process of normal or caesarean delivery. During this time, she is in dire need of medication, as well as the physical, mental and emotional support of her husband,” Raghav Chadha said.

Paternity leave exists as a legal right in many countries, but its duration, pay and eligibility vary widely. In general, this right is most established in Europe, Latin America and parts of Asia. MP Chadha demanded that similar paternity leaves should be provided in India as well. He said, “In countries like Sweden, Iceland and Japan, this legal right is guaranteed from 90 days to 52 weeks. In India, 90 percent of manpower is in the private sector. This means that most fathers do not get this right,” Chadha raised in the Rajya Sabha.
