On Monday, Indian Ambassador Naveen Srivastava met with Nepal's newly appointed Foreign Minister Shishir Khanal to discuss various aspects of bilateral relations. Khanal took office on March 27. According to a statement from the Foreign Ministry, during the meeting, Srivastava conveyed congratulations from External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Khanal's appointment. The statement indicated that discussions were held on various matters related to Nepal-India relations and cooperation. Jaishankar had previously congratulated Khanal on his first day in office, expressing eagerness to work together with his Nepali counterpart to further strengthen the traditional partnership between India and Nepal.

Shankar Prasad Sharma, the Ambassador of Nepal to India, emphasized the need to enhance trade, investment, and economic ties between the two neighboring countries. Speaking at a trade event and promotion initiative held in Thane, Sharma stated that the business communities of both nations should explore new avenues for collaboration and partnership to foster shared growth. According to the organizers, this event aimed to bring together key figures, business leaders, and stakeholders from the industry of both countries. The goal was to provide a common platform for meaningful networking and partnership discussions. Given Nepal's significance in India's overall strategic interests in the region, leaders from both nations have frequently referenced their centuries-old ties of kinship.
