Vietnam is targeting 45-50 million foreign arrivals annually by 2030 under an updated plan unveiled by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, representing average growth of 16-19% a year from now.

It also expects 160 million domestic visitors annually.

By 2030 tourism is projected to contribute 14% to GDP and account for 12 million jobs, including four million directly.

Tourism has emerged as a bright spot in Vietnam’s economy after a record 21.2 million visitors arrived last year, according to the General Statistics Office.

Vietnam was the third most visited country in Southeast Asia after Malaysia and Thailand.

The tourism industry has set a target of 25 million foreign visitors this year, a 16% increase.
