The timeline of The Testaments has left viewers questioning Agnes' age.
The eagerly-awaited follow-up to The Handmaid's Tale, The Testaments, premiered yesterday (April 8) with Hulu and Disney+ releasing the first three episodes for viewers to savour, complete with a thrilling twist, reports the Mirror.
The new series is adapted from Margaret Atwood's critically acclaimed 2019 novel The Testaments, itself a sequel to her 1985 classic The Handmaid's Tale.
The follow-up novel was born from the success of Hulu's TV adaptation and incorporates elements from the show, effectively making them canon, including Baby Nichole/Holly.
The Testaments centres on Canadian teenager Daisy (played by Lucy Halliday), who becomes a Pearl Girl, and Agnes MacKenzie (Chase Infiniti), a privileged Gilead daughter to a high-ranking Commander.
Here's everything you need to know about Agnes' age in the TV series, following widespread fan speculation about the timeline.
Agnes is 14 at the start of The Testaments, according to star Infiniti.
In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, she explained: "I really tried to tap into what it was like being 14, 15, and to bring that mindset and that excitement to life itself to her.
"[I tried] making sure that she's staying grounded, but also staying very hopeful and youthful and bright in the world, because it's hard not to be."
The One Battle After Another actress continued by stating that Agnes would "experience all the 14-year-old things and feelings and thoughts". However, she will also begin to question matters after Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) requests that Agnes serve as a "shepherdess" to Pearl Girl Daisy, who has recently arrived in Gilead.
In contrast to the novel, which is set 15 years after The Handmaid's Tale, the television adaptation takes place merely four years following the series finale, necessitating several alterations, including to Daisy's character.
Golden Globe nominee Infiniti was born on 5 May 2000, and is presently 25 years old.
She would have been 24 when The Testaments was filmed in 2024.
The actress, whose full name is Chase Infiniti Payne, was named after Nicole Kidman's character in Batman Forever: criminal psychologist Dr Chase Meridian, while her middle name drew inspiration from Toy Story's Buzz Lightyear and his catchphrase: "To infinity and beyond."
The Testaments airs weekly on Hulu and Disney+ on Wednesdays
