The second edition of ‘The Great Asian Food Festival’ has begun. Not only China, but five other Asian countries will get the old taste in Khas Kolkata. The festival brings together the cuisines of Japan, Korea, Vietnam, Thailand and Malaysia under one roof.
The taste of Asia in one dish! A divine menu has been prepared for the food lovers. For those who enjoy Japanese spices, there are Chicken Karaage, Yaki Udon and Pork Teriyaki. The popular ramen bowl or jajangmyeong of far Korea can be found in every outlet. Gui Quon and Pork Bao are Vietnamese specialties. If you want to share the salty-sweet taste of Thailand, there is Tom Yum Fried Rice. There is also an opportunity to try Malaysia’s popular laksa lemak bowl or char kuay.
Devaditya Chowdhury, Managing Director, Chowman said, “Last year there was a huge craze for this festival among the general public. That success has encouraged us to plan bigger for the second edition. Special attention has been paid to maintain the taste and quality of traditional cuisine of each country.” According to him, this is not just an event, but a great opportunity for foodies to get to know the cultures of different parts of Asia.
When and where?
The festival started from April 8 and will continue throughout the month. Apart from Kolkata, all outlets in Delhi, Mumbai, Bangalore and Chennai will also have this special menu. This food can be tasted by going directly to the restaurant from 12 noon to 10:30 pm. According to the company, these special positions are mainly allocated for eating in the restaurant (Dine-in).
These padas made with the use of foreign spices and ingredients have already started gaining popularity to win over the city’s foodies. Chauman’s novel initiative is to bring the taste of foreign countries within the reach of the middle class. So you can visit this festival in search of a different taste on holidays or during work.
