Asansol. Prime Minister Narendra Modi, while addressing a huge election rally in Asansol, West Bengal on Thursday, launched a scathing attack on the Mamata Banerjee-led Trinamool Congress government. Seeing the crowd and enthusiasm, he said that the wave of change is now clearly visible in Bengal.

The Prime Minister said, “Change in Bengal is now set in stone. The entire Asansol and the entire state wants change.” He alleged that TMC’s “pot of sins is full” and after the upcoming elections, a “double engine government” will be formed in the state, which will give a new impetus to development.

Taking aim at the TMC government, Modi said that when the entire country is progressing rapidly, Bengal is going backward. He alleged that the state’s resources, opportunities and industries are under control of “syndicates and goons”, which is affecting the general public and especially the youth.

Recalling the industrial importance of the Asansol-Durgapur region, the Prime Minister said that this area was once counted among the major industrial centers of the country, but today industries are migrating from here and the youth have to go out for employment.

He said that this election is not just about changing the government, but also about regaining the lost industrial identity of Asansol, getting rid of “mafia raj” and giving a new direction to development. He also targeted Congress, Left parties and TMC, saying that all of them have disappointed the people of Bengal for years.

The Prime Minister assured that the Central Government is committed to the development of the sector and thousands of crores of rupees have been spent on industrial projects. He claimed that BJP itself has a strong track record of development.

He also cornered the TMC government on the issue of women’s safety and infiltration. He said that women in the state were feeling unsafe and demographic change in many areas had become a matter of concern.

In the end, he appealed to the public and said that the upcoming elections are an “opportunity to decide the future” and every vote will play an important role towards the security, development and stability of Bengal.
