IMD Alert: Rain and storm warning in 9 states

India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued weather warnings in many parts of the country. Amidst the scorching heat, now once again an alert of rain and strong winds has come out, due to which people need relief as well as vigilance.

Weather Update: India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a warning regarding major changes in weather in many parts of the country. There is a possibility of rain, strong thunderstorm and lightning in more than 9 states of the country during the next 12 to 48 hours. Along with this, sudden drop in temperature in some areas and hot winds like heat wave in some areas can increase people’s problems.

According to the Meteorological Department, the wind speed in many states can reach 40 to 55 kilometers per hour. In view of this, farmers, travelers and common people have been advised to remain alert.

In which 9 states there is alert of rain and storm?

According to the latest forecast of IMD, the possibility of rain and thunderstorm is highest in many states of Northeast and South India. Major states issued alerts are:

    • west bengal

 

    • Sikkim

 

    • Assam

 

    • Meghalaya

 

    • Nagaland

 

    • Mizoram

 

    • Tripura

 

    • Karnataka

 

    • Kerala

 

There has been a warning of heavy rain and lightning in these states. Fear of damage due to lightning and strong winds has also been expressed at many places.

Weather patterns in North India

At present, there is less possibility of rain in many states of North India, but the heat is increasing rapidly.

    • Delhi: There is no rain warning in the national capital Delhi. Temperatures may reach 37°C and heat waves are likely in the coming days.

 

    • Uttar Pradesh: Weather will remain dry in most parts of Uttar Pradesh. There is a possibility of temperature rise and heat wave in districts like Meerut, Agra, Prayagraj, Varanasi, Gorakhpur.

 

    • Bihar: There is relief from rain in Bihar too, but hot winds can increase the problem. Temperature will increase in many districts including Patna, Gaya, Bhagalpur.

 

Chance of rain in hilly states

    • Uttarakhand: There is a possibility of rain in Uttarakhand around April 17. The weather may change in areas like Dehradun, Nainital, Chamoli and Uttarkashi. There will be a drop in temperature.

 

    • Himachal Pradesh: Rain alert has been issued in Himachal Pradesh on April 17. Areas like Chamba, Kullu, Mandi and Lahaul-Spiti may receive rain with strong winds.

 

Condition of West and Central India

    • Rajasthan: There is currently no warning of rain in Rajasthan, but the temperature is rising rapidly. The effect of heat will increase in cities like Jaipur, Jodhpur and Kota.

 

    • Madhya Pradesh: The weather will remain dry in Madhya Pradesh at present, but the temperature may reach close to 40°C in many districts.

 

Effect of rain in South India

    • Kerala: There is a possibility of heavy rain in many districts of Kerala like Thiruvananthapuram, Kozhikode and Kannur. Fishermen in marine areas have been advised not to venture into the sea.

 

    • Karnataka: Rain with thunder and strong winds are expected in some parts of Karnataka.

 

Heavy rain with winds of 40–50 km/hr is likely over Assam, Meghalaya, Mizoram and Tripura. There has also been a warning of lightning in many areas.
