News India Live, Digital Desk: Keeping yourself fit in today’s sedentary lifestyle is no less than a challenge. Often people are confused whether they should go to the gym, do cardio or take the help of yoga to lose weight. According to yoga expert Vidya Jha of ‘Aatm Yoga Studio’, there is no single ‘shortcut’ to fitness. Coordination and continuity of different forms of workout is the real key for better health. Cardio Exercise: Powerhouse of burning calories. On hearing the name of cardio, people often associate it with gym machines, but it does not require any heavy machine. What is cardio: Brisk walking, running, cycling or jumping rope comes under cardio. Benefit: It burns calories faster and improves heart health. If your goal is to lose weight quickly, then cardio should be a part of your routine. Strength Training (Gym Workout): Will give the body the right shape. Strength training done in the gym is not only for body building but is important for increasing the efficiency of the body. Benefit: It strengthens the muscles and tones the body. Strength training increases metabolism, due to which you burn calories even while resting. Yoga and Stretching: Boon of Flexibility According to expert Vidya Jha, only strength and burning calories is not fitness. Importance: Stretching and yoga make the body flexible. It not only gives mental peace, but also protects the muscles from injury. Perfect Workout Routine: What is the expert’s opinion? According to Vidya Jha, only a balanced routine can keep you healthy for a long time: How long to workout: To stay healthy, one should exercise for at least 30 to 45 minutes daily. If time is short, then do only 20 minutes but do it ‘daily’. The magic of mixed workout: Do cardio 3 days a week and weight training or strength training 2 to 3 days. This will keep your weight under control and your body will also be toned. Sleep and diet: The effect of exercise will be visible only when you take adequate sleep (7-8 hours) and follow the right diet.
