Mumbai Indians (MI)’s innings progressed with great balance. The team scored 48 runs by losing 2 wickets in 6 overs of powerplay, where the start was fine but some wickets fell early. After this, the batsmen played brilliantly in the middle overs and added 97 runs by losing only 1 wicket between 7 and 15 overs, due to which the team reached a strong position. In the last 5 overs, MI tried to score runs quickly but could only add 50 runs while losing 3 wickets. In the end, Mumbai Indians scored a strong score of 195 runs for 6 wickets in 20 overs.
Quinton de Kock played an amazing innings for Mumbai Indians and scored an unbeaten 112 runs. Apart from him, Naman Dheer scored 50 runs but the rest of the batsmen could not do anything special. No one could go beyond 14 runs. On behalf of Punjab, Arshdeep Singh bowled well and took 3 wickets. Apart from them, Shashank Singh and Marco Jensen got 1 wicket each.
PBKS innings
PBKS performed brilliantly in this match by batting in a very aggressive manner. In powerplay i.e. the first 6 overs, the team scored 61 runs after losing 2 wickets. After this, in the middle overs, the batsmen completely controlled the match and added 111 runs without losing any wicket between 7 and 15 overs. The team maintained momentum even in the death overs and scored 26 runs after losing 1 wicket between 16 and 17 overs. Punjab scored a total of 198 runs losing only 3 wickets in 16.3 overs and won the match by 7 wickets with 21 balls remaining.
Prabhsimran Singh scored the highest 80 runs for PBKS and remained not out till the end. Captain Shreyas Iyer also batted well and added 66 runs. Whereas Mumbai Indians bowlers looked a complete flop in this match. AM Ghazanfar took 2 wickets for the team, while Shardul Thakur got 1 wicket. However, Deepak Chahar and Jasprit Bumrah once again proved to be very expensive and gave away a lot of runs.
