Mehsana: Adani Group Chairman Gautam Adani and his wife on Sunday visited Shri Ajitnath Bhagwan Shwetamber Jain Derasar in Gujarat’s Taranga hills and offered prayers on the occasion of Akshaya Tritiya.

After the couple arrived at the Mehsana district earlier in the day, they were received by members of the Jain community. After this they proceeded to the hill shrine, considered as one of significant religious sites of Jains. Devotees had started gathering early in the morning on the auspicious occasion.

Gautam Adani shares message on X

“On the sacred occasion of Akshaya Tritiya, I was fortunate to offer prayers at the Shri Ajitnath Bhagwan Shwetambar Jain Temple. The eternal values of Jainism, such as non-violence, compassion, self-discipline, and simplicity, inspire us to lead purposeful, humble, and responsible lives,” he wrote on X.

He added, “Being involved in the afforestation efforts in the Taranga Hills is also a matter of immense satisfaction for us. This is a humble endeavor to conserve nature and express reverence and sensitivity toward all living beings. On this sacred occasion, I pray for peace, prosperity, harmony, and new hope for all”.

Temple dedicated to Lord Ajitnath

Notably, the temple is dedicated to Lord Ajitnath, the second Tirthankara in Jainism. It is one of the important pilgrimage sites for Jains in the country and the rest of the world. After reaching the temple, Gautam Adani offered prayers inside the sanctum and also spent some time at the temple complex. They also visited the canteen.

During his visit, the Adani Group chief met temple trustee Sachin Ashokbhai Shah and discussed plans regarding improvements to facilities for pilgrims. It may be noted that the Adani Group is also working on afforestation efforts in the region, and is also contributing to the ecological restoration of the region.

It may be noted that Akshaya Tritiya is one of the most auspicious days for the Hindu as well as the Jain community, which is associated with prosperity and new beginnings. In Jainism, it is also the day when Rishabhanatha received his first alms after a prolonged fast. Earlier this month, Gautam Adani and his family offered prayers at the Ram Mandir in Ayodhya on the occasion of Hanuman Jayanti.
