The United States Navy successfully tracked and boarded an Iranian cargo vessel named 'Touska' in the vicinity of the Strait of Hormuz. This operation marks the first interception since the initiation of a blockade on Iranian ports last week. Reports indicate that the ship was transporting equipment classified as dual-use by the US authorities. Nikki Haley, a member of the Republican Party, asserted that the vessel was en route from China and was carrying chemical materials intended for missile production in Iran.

According to US officials, the ship was fired upon and seized after it crossed a blockade line, disregarding multiple warnings. The US Central Command released footage showing a guided-missile destroyer engaging the vessel, with Marines descending onto its deck via helicopters. Maritime security sources reported that 'Touska' was likely carrying items that the US considers dual-use, which could serve military purposes. The ship had previously been involved in transporting similar dual-use items after departing from Asia.

Earlier assessments by the US Central Command identified various goods, including metals, pipes, and electronic components, that could have both military and industrial applications. Nikki Haley reiterated on social media that the seized ship was linked to chemical shipments for missiles and emphasized that the potential for China to support Iran militarily is a significant concern that must be acknowledged.
