When the Screen Awards took place, Alia Bhatt was under a lot of fire because of how bad her performance was. She was called out for being a bad host, and although it was her first time, the job that she had done had fans wondering if she should stick to acting.
Award shows have gradually lost their charm, and while fans have been saying it for such a long time, what they spotted was professional hosting, Mini Mathur, also speaking against it.

An influencer on Instagram, itsjanani posted a video criticising the award shows of today and how they aren’t interesting anymore. They used to be fun and engaging, but that isn’t the case anymore. Her video focused more on Alia Bhatt and how her entire personality during the show felt fake and fabricated.

It wasn’t Alia’s nervousness that felt underwhelming; it was the bad jokes and how the humour was badly executed. Her entire demand had been to bring back good hosts who know how to keep an audience on their toes, and their comedic time and delivery carries the show even if the jokes don’t hit.
If not for professional hosts, then there were also actors in the past who could do it just the same way as Shah Rukh Khan and Saif Ali Khan. It has been a long time since people have wanted to tune into award shows and care about them. What didn’t escape the fans’ attention was how Mini Mathur also commented on the video.
She commented, “Thank you, someone finally said it.” To which the influencer replied, “Yes, please show them how it’s done.”
This could have been her throwing shade at the actress, but it could also have been her agreeing to how Janani said that award shows should bring back proper hosts instead of using the same old trope over and over again.

Fans also believe that she may have been talking about the organisers and award shows in general rather than Alia Bhatt. Alia Bhatt faced a lot of criticism for her hosting, and clips have been circulating online of one or the other awkward moment throughout her hosting.
Reacting to the allegations, the VJ and host also spoke to Hindustan Times about the matter.
“To just create stories out of nothing is what the internet does. I will tell you why I commented… the creator had an interesting take on why award shows insist on using actors as hosts and then later complain about them falling short of their “expectations”. It is not their main skill set so why the expectations? It’s like asking a host to act at gunpoint. I only commented on that,” she says.
She also addressed the allegations of her throwing shade at Alia Bhatt, “It is all nonsense. I love Alia. On top of this, I have not even seen the show these people are talking about on the internet.”
She also admitted to not having seen the award show at all. If anything, her comment was on how the hosts should be given more opportunities.
