New Delhi: Chennai Super Kings (CSK) have been handed a fresh injury blow as young batter Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remainder of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 season due to a hamstring injury. Ayush suffered a hamstring strain while batting for CSK during their clash against Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) last week.
The 18-year-old batter underwent scans in Mumbai, following which CSK confirmed his ouster from the tournament. CSK released an official statement on Tuesday to confirm that Mhatre has been ruled out of the remainder of the season due to his hamstring injury. There were hopes of Mhatre returning later in the season, but CSK confirmed the batter will require 6-12 weeks to recover fully.
“Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remainder of IPL 2026 due to a left hamstring injury sustained while batting during the match against Sunrisers Hyderabad on April 18. Ayush’s injury will require a rehabilitation period of 6-12 weeks. We wish Ayush a speedy recovery,” CSK said in a statement on Tuesday.
