New Delhi: Just before the important match against Mumbai Indians on 23 April, Chennai Super Kings have suffered a big blow. Young batsman Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remaining season of IPL 2026 due to hamstring injury. He suffered this injury while batting against Sunrisers Hyderabad on Saturday last week (18 April 2026).

CSK gave a big update

In fact, the franchise itself has confirmed this by issuing a statement to all the fans and supporters. CSK said, "Ayush Mhatre has been ruled out of the remaining matches of IPL 2026 after suffering a left hamstring injury while batting in the match against SRH on April 18. It will take 6 to 12 weeks for Ayush to recover completely. We wish him a speedy recovery."

Chennai team suffered a big loss

Let us tell you that Ayush Mhatre was one of the most reliable batsmen of CSK this season. He scored 201 runs in 06 matches at an average of 33.5 and strike rate of 177.87. The responsibility of giving a fast start in the powerplay was on him. The five-time champion team will clearly feel his absence in the remaining matches.

Chennai Super Kings team is currently struggling at eighth position in the points table. There have been only 02 wins in 06 matches. Now 08 matches are left in the league stage and CSK will have to pick up the pace, but now this work will have to be done without Ayush Mhatre. Balancing the playing eleven will be a big challenge for the team management.

Injuries remain for CSK in IPL 2026

It is noteworthy that injuries have not left CSK in IPL 2026. Firstly, Dewald Brevis could not play the first three matches. Then the team’s superstar Mahendra Singh Dhoni has not played a single match till now due to calf muscle strain.

Nathan Ellis was out before the season even started. Spencer Johnson, who came in his place, has also recently joined the team after recovering from a major injury. Khalil Ahmed is also out of the season due to injury. And now Ayush Mhatre is also out of IPL.
