Indian ships stand firm despite tensions in the Middle East Amidst the increasing tension in the Middle East and the ongoing conflict between Iran and America, a big relief news has come for India. The government itself has informed that the movement of Indian ships continues through the most dangerous sea route i.e. ‘Strait of Hormuz’. Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal told in an important meeting that since the tension started, a total of 10 Indian flagged ships have safely passed this route.
Government’s emphasis on solving LPG crisis India’s priority among the ships stuck in the Strait of Hormuz is to rescue the LPG tankers first. The government has taken this step in view of the huge shortage of LPG in the country. Although many gas tankers have found safe passage, shortage of cooking gas is still being felt in some parts of India due to the ongoing conflict in West Asia. The government is making every possible effort to ensure that the supply chain is not disrupted.
‘Desh Garima’ returns home and Ajit Doval’s mission Amidst this tense environment, Indian crude oil tanker ‘Desh Garima’ is in the news. The ship with 31 Indian sailors on board safely transited Hormuz on April 18 and is expected to reach Mumbai on April 22. Meanwhile, India’s National Security Advisor (NSA) Ajit Doval visited Saudi Arabia on April 19. There he met top officials like Saudi Energy Minister and Foreign Minister. The purpose of this visit was to strengthen bilateral relations and discuss maintaining peace in the region.

More than 4.93 lakh new connections have been given since March 2026. Interestingly, there has been a tremendous jump in the sales of auto LPG in the last one week, which has almost doubled as compared to February. At the same time, according to government data, till April 19, about 39,200 customers have surrendered their old LPG connections and adopted piped gas.
