JEE Main Session-2 result declared, what next? JoSAA counseling process will start on this day

National Testing Agency has released the result of JEE Mains Session-2 (JEE Main Result 2026) and answer key. Candidate Official Website You can download your scorecard by visiting. Joint Entrance Examination Mains was conducted on 2, 4, 5, 6 and 8 April in different cities in a total of 13 languages. At present, the result for Paper-1 has been declared. The answer key and result of Paper-2 may be released soon. A total of 11 lakh 10 thousand 904 candidates had registered for session 2. Out of which only 10 lakh 34 thousand 330 candidates appeared in the examination. The attendance of the candidates was 93.11%.

What will happen next now?

Only candidates who score 2.5 lakh rank in JEE Mains will be allowed to appear in JEE Advanced. Eligible candidates can visit the official website from 23rd April to 2nd May. You can apply by visiting. The exam is scheduled to be held on May 17. Students who are not eligible for JEE Advanced will get admission into NITs, GFTIs, IIITs and other engineering institutes on the basis of JEE Mains score. However, JEE Advanced score is mandatory for admission in IIT.

What update on counselling?

Students will be allotted engineering courses and colleges on the basis of JoSAA counselling. According to the JEE Advanced schedule released by IIT Roorkee this year, the counseling process can start from June 2, 2026. Through this counseling process, students will get admission in more than 100 institutes, which will include 23 IITs, 31 NITs, one IIST, 26 IIITs and 40 government funded technical institutes.
