Princess Kate wore two touching tributes to Queen Elizabeth as she charmed guests at a Buckingham Palace event today. The Princess of Wales joined husband and heir-to-the-throne, Prince William, King Charles and Queen Camilla and other members of the Royal Family at the special reception in London for Queen Elizabeth's centenary.

Guests at the reception included representatives from a selection of Elizabeth's patronages, including Cancer Research UK, British Red Cross Society, Jockey Club, Royal Kennel Club and the Army Benevolent Fund. Princess Catherine, 44, wowed in lilac, and wore a set of pearls that once belonged to the former monarch, as per Tatler. Queen Elizabeth can be seen wearing the pearls in the last official portrait she did before her death in September 2022, and Kate has worn them at events since.

Kate also accessorised with a pair of Bahrain Pearl Drop Earrings that Queen Elizabeth had made before she ascended to the throne.

The former Queen had worn them frequently in her younger years, before loaning them out to other royals, including Princess Diana.

According to the outlet, around 2016 she appears to have given them to Princess Kate, who wore them on Remembrance Sunday that year and many times since.

Her hubby Prince William also looked dapper in a dark suit. The royals were joined by centenarians celebrating their 100th birthdays, who were presented with cards by King Charles in person.

A birthday cake was also served. Earlier in the day, the King and Queen, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Duke and Duchess of Gloucester were at the British Museum to see the final models of the national memorial to Elizabeth II.

Renowned architect Lord Foster, who won the bid to design the permanent memorial to the King's late mother was also in attendance, with other guests including Prime Minister Sir Keir Starmer, artist Dame Tracey Emin, broadcaster Claudia Winkleman, designer Erdem Moralioglu and presenter Martha Kearney, all of whom are trustees of the museum.

The memorial is one of three projects honouring the late Queen's legacy, alongside a new charity The Queen Elizabeth Trust, and a Digital Memorial, which asks for the public's memories of the monarch at Queenelizabeth.com, also launched today.

The Princess Royal also officially opened the the Queen Elizabeth II Garden in Regent's Park.
