New Delhi.Amidst the ongoing season of IPL 2026, a major action has come to light on the Illegal Betting Network, where the police busted an organized racket, arrested four accused and froze the bank accounts associated with about Rs 42.3 lakh. The action is part of an ongoing investigation against a long-running online and offline betting network that had made cricket matches a source of illegal earnings.

Police investigation revealed that this racket was active during IPL matches and attracted people for betting through digital platforms and mobile applications. Preliminary investigation has also revealed that the accused moved the money around using multiple bank accounts and digital transactions to hide the source of the illegal earnings. During the operation, cash, mobile phones and laptops were also recovered, which were being used to operate this entire network.

The arrested accused are said to be local residents, who were involved in this activity for a long time. The investigation has also indicated that this network may have links with some people outside the country, who were helping to operate this betting through online medium. The police suspect that in this entire game, an attempt was being made to hide the money through money laundering by diverting it to different accounts.

Officials said that the case will now be investigated on a more comprehensive level, which will include a detailed investigation of the family, associates and all financial transactions of the accused. Along with this, the international connections of this network are also being investigated so that the entire gang can be completely exposed. Considering the seriousness of the matter, further help of central agencies can also be taken.

This action is being considered as a strong message on illegal activities during a big sports event like IPL, where the administration is continuously monitoring such networks which are involved in illegal earnings under the guise of sports.
