Telangana High Court on Wednesday delivered its verdict on petitions filed over Justice Ghosh Commission, which was constituted to inquire into alleged irregularities within the Kaleshwaram project.
The court granted relief to former Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao and former Minister Harish Rao and observed that the Justice P.C. Ghosh Commission had failed to adhere to the prescribed procedural norms. The court issued orders directing that no action be initiated based on the commission’s report.
The high court observed that leveling allegations without issuing a notice under section 8 is improper and that no action should be taken based on the report.
A bench comprising Chief Justice Apresh Kumar Singh and Justice G.M. Mohiuddin conducted extensive hearings on separate petitions filed by former CM KCR, former Minister T. Harish Rao, and IAS officers Smita Sabharwal and S.K. Joshi. The petitions challenged G.O. 6, issued on March 14, 2024, which constituted the Justice P.C. Ghosh Commission to inquire into alleged irregularities concerning the barrages.
However, the court said that the constitution of P.C. Ghosh commission is lawful.
