New Delhi: Harley-Davidson has issued a recall in the USA that could affect up to 16,994 motorcycles due to a potential rear brake failure risk. The recall has been flagged by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) of the USA.
As per the recall notice, the back brake line might come into contact with the Body Control Module (BCM), which might cause wear in the brake line, leading to the brake fluid leak and ultimately loss of rear braking performance. To fix the issue, the Harley-Davidson dealer will replace the BCM and related hardware and inspect the rear brake line.
How Harley-Davidson will upgrade the brake line
If there are any damages found, the brake lin and associated components will be replaced without any cost. The affected models include the Heritage Classic, Street Bob, Low Rider S and Low Rider ST, which all come as part of Harley-Davidson’s Softail range. Owner notifications in the USA are likely to start from May 18th. For now, there is nothing about the Indian-sold models being affected by them.
The brand has been busy overall, with launches across the world, halo launches and expansion at the lower end. The brand is set to lower its overall prices in the country after India relaxed the import duties. The brand has been quite popular in the subcontinent and is slowly growing as a nameplate.
