Swindon New College has been locked down by police after an incident on Friday. Officers are on scene at the Queens Drive campus, with around eight police cars and armed police vehicles in attendance, the Swindon Advertiser reports. Sources from inside the building told the outlet that they're being kept inside, with orders to "stay in place" and "out of sight". One student said his friends were stuck waiting in the maths corridor.
Two men have been detained following reports of a male with a knife at the college. Wiltshire Police confirmed no knife was found. The force said: "We attended New College in Swindon at approximately 11am today following a report a male had been seen with a knife. Officers attended and two males were detained. Searches were carried out and no knife was found."
