The Delhi Capitals bowler Lungi Ngidi sustained a nasty blow on the back of his head while trying to catch the balls coming from Priyansh Arya. This happened in the third over when the DC captain Axar Patel was bowling to Arya. It was a full toss, and Arya went on to slash it to mid-off.
But Ngidi misjudged it. His hands went high, but the ball fell behind him. Losing his balance, Ngidi fell on his back and hit his head. Soon after, he clutched his head and lay on his side, grimacing in pain. The physio and the doctors ran in to give a checkup. The good news is that Ngidi was able to talk. But he lay down throughout as stretches came inside, and so did the ambulance.
The physio had a long chat and made the right call to put on a neck brace, trying to prevent further complexities. However, after an extensive chat for around 10 minutes, Ngidi was carried out via the ambulance. Delhi Capitals, meanwhile, introduced Vipraj Nigam on the field as the concussion substitute.
