New Delhi: A horrifying incident took place during the Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings IPL 2026 clash on Saturday as South Africa pacer Lungi Ngidi suffered a serious head injury while attempting a catch.
The injury was so bad that an ambulance was brought on to the field as the fast bowler was unable to get up. Ngidi was put on a stretcher and rushed to a nearby hospital quickly. Dushmantha Chameera was brought in as a concussion substitute later.
The incident took place on third ball of the third over as Ngidi attempted a catch running backwards but at the end, landed himself badly on the head. The physio immediately rushed to the ground and the DC player responded to him but was nor moving at all.
All his teammates, including South African David Miller and Tristan Stubbs, were shell shocked as they saw their team member on the ground. Not only the teammates, the crowd in the stand was also shocked to see Ngidi lying on the ground.

Few minutes later, the doctors decided to put Ngidi in a neck brace as the ambulance came into the ground and took him to the hospital. Any update on the star bowler’s situation is yet to come forth.
