Sanjay Singh, Patna. An ordinary afternoon in Sasaram, Bihar suddenly turned into a sensation when the Vigilance Department team took precise and swift action against corruption and caught a government official red handed. Block Cooperative Officer Janardan Kumar, posted in Rajpur block of Rohtas district, was caught taking a bribe of Rs 10,000, that too at a time when he probably had no idea that his every step was being monitored.
The entire matter is to the verification of PACS warehouse. It is alleged that Janardan Kumar demanded Rs 10,000 from PACS manager Prashant Kumar in the name of inspection and verification of the warehouse. Initially this was presented as a part of the process but the reality gradually became clear. This was a direct demand for bribe.
Seeing the increasing pressure, instead of remaining silent, Prashant Kumar trusted the system and knocked on the door of the surveillance department. This is where the story took a turn. The complaint was not taken lightly. The team first conducted a covert investigation, examined every aspect and when the allegations were found to be true, a precise trap was laid.

Then came the moment which exposed the whole matter. As per the planned plan, as soon as Janardan Kumar took the bribe amount in his hand, the surveillance team immediately raided. Within seconds the game was over. The officer had been caught red handed. The team present on the spot completed the entire process in a legal manner, so that the case remained strong.
After the arrest, the team left for Patna taking the accused with them. Along with this, searches were also conducted at his residence in Sasaram. Although no major objectionable material was recovered from there, officials say that the investigation is not over yet. If necessary, more layers will also be opened.
Anxiety among corrupt officials increased
The officials of the surveillance department clearly stated that the complaint was true, hence the action was equally concrete. This entire operation showed that now complaints are being taken seriously and action against corruption is not limited to papers only.
