AI-powered “Touch-up” tools: Google has launched new touch-up tools in its popular app Google Photos, which are specially designed to improve portrait photos. Through this new update, users can now easily edit small details of the face like skin, eyes and teeth. The most important thing is that this editing looks very natural, that is, the photo does not have much filter but looks like the original.

Users can perform mild, professional-level facial retouching directly within the app. The feature, which began rolling out globally in late April 2026, aims to improve portraits by providing finer control over facial features rather than applying heavy-handed filters.
Targeted editing: AI recognizes faces, allowing users to edit up to six different faces into a single group photo.
Adjustable Intensity: Each tool has a slider that lets users reduce the effect so that the result doesn’t look overly edited, but more natural.
This new feature has not come simultaneously for all users. Google is rolling it out gradually, so some users may get this update earlier and some later. It also depends on your phone and the version of the app.
