Da Nang tops Hoi An and Phu Quoc as Vietnam’s best destination: Read survey

Readers of Read International have voted Da Nang in Vietnam’s central coast the country’s best destination, praising the city’s vibrancy and friendliness.

Among more than 4,500 respondents to the site’s survey from March 5, 21% picked Da Nang as their favorite travel destination in Vietnam.

Coming in next are the nearby ancient town Hoi An and popular island Phu Quoc that won 16% of votes each. Vietnam’s two largest cities Ho Chi Minh City and Hanoi followed with 9% of votes.

Da Nang is known for its long sandy coastline, with My Khe Beach often cited as one of the city’s main attractions for its clear water and accessibility.

The city is also a gateway to cultural and natural landmarks, including the Marble Mountains, Ba Na Hills with the Golden Bridge.

In the city center, the Han River and iconic bridges such as the Dragon Bridge add to its modern urban appeal, especially at night.

Many readers praised Da Nang for its vibrancy and diverse culinary offerings.

“I will give Da Nang an edge due to vibrancy and abundant Halal options,” reader Usman Arif wrote.

American reader nicknamed burghball praised Da Nang for its “welcoming” people.

Some readers remain undecided between Da Nang and Phu Quoc, two of Vietnam’s top beach destinations.

“It’s a toss up. Both Da Nang and Phu Quoc are great. Maybe a slight edge to Da Nang for all the great restaurants but I liked swimming better in Phu Quoc. Either are great choices though,” reader Ryan Young commented.
